Olszewski Storytime Miniatures at Collecto-Mania's Collectibles :

Mr. Olszewski is probably the best-known miniaturist in the world.
His interest in miniatures began while building a dollhouse for his daughter. He's pursued miniature figurative work full-time since 1978. Perhaps you've seen the mini Hummels he's done for the Goebel company, or the figures he created for the Walt Disney Classics. (We still have a few for sale.)

Creating these miniature masterpieces requires many steps. Each begins as wax, which is sculpted using very fine tools. This process can take from 100 to 400 hours.
Many steps later, the miniatures are cast in pewter or bronze, depending on how much strength is needed.
Porcelain goes over that. Before hand painting, the figurine is airbrushed with several coats of white paint. Color glazes and washes are applied, with many drying periods in between, before the final features are painted. No two are ever alike!
