Hand-Painted Treasures in the Russian Tradition
Using a very special wood-based resin material, each piece is hand-poured and will resemble the hand-carved original so closely that even the woodcarver cannot tell the pieces apart.
A small corps of artists in other countries, each trained in the Russian techniques of decoration and story painting, meticulously hand paints each piece to the exact likeness of the original.
Amazingly, each artist paints free-hand without guidelines. The paint is usually added in three to nine layers, one on top of another. Using rich color pigments and palettes that duplicate the ones used in Russian art villages, these gifted artists create the magnificent scenes and decorations.
Even with small edition sizes of 600 to 1,500, it still takes two to three years to complete each edition of these works of art. Because of their small edition sizes, these pieces retire from production quickly.
